Charlie (Charlotte) Turking is a seasoned Oracle developer and cloud consulting professional with over 35 years’ experience in enterprise systems, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure. Originally from Denmark and now based in the UK, she began her career developing TIA, a core insurance system built on Oracle databases that continues to underpin insurance operations around the world. This early work established her reputation for designing robust, large‑scale transactional systems in highly regulated industries.
Since 1987, Charlie has worked extensively with Oracle technologies, and since 1997 she has operated independently as a freelance Oracle specialist, delivering a mix of consulting and advanced training focused on database administration, PL/SQL development, data analysis, data mining, and infrastructure. She has served for many years as an Oracle/Oracle University trainer, running on‑site and virtual programmes for enterprise clients globally while advising them on architecture, performance tuning, and the operationalisation of new Oracle capabilities.
Alongside her training work, Charlie is the majority owner and controlling person of Sharptech Systems Limited, a UK‑registered IT consulting company, through which she delivers Oracle and cloud consulting services. Engagements typically involve helping organisations modernise Oracle workloads, design data and analytics solutions, and plan cloud migrations that balance risk, cost, and performance.
Over the last several years, Charlie has extended her consulting practice into Amazon Web Services. She became an AWS Authorized Instructor in 2021 and has since accumulated multiple AWS certifications, including Developer – Associate, Machine Learning – Specialty, AWS Certified AI Practitioner (Early Adopter), and AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate. She is active in AWS education initiatives such as AWS re/Start, where she has been profiled as an instructor for Momentum’s 12‑week programme in Calgary, helping learners acquire practical cloud skills through real‑world labs and scenarios.
With a background that bridges Oracle, multi‑cloud architectures (AWS, and exploratory work with GCP and Azure), and applied data and ML, Charlie is well placed to support organisations that need pragmatic guidance to move from legacy platforms to modern, cloud‑native solutions. Whether the engagement is framed as training, advisory consulting, or a mix of both, her focus is on enabling teams to understand the technology deeply and to apply it safely in production environments.
